Plans to build the 30th Street Extension, Esther Simplot Park, and the Ray Neef River Recreation Park are solidifying quickly. It is very important that VPNA residence have representation in planning of these important projects so that the quality of life and safety of the neighborhood is enhanced. The final drafts of these monumental projects is going to be finalized April 12th, 2010 (this is a tentative date) with the adoption of the City’s new Comprehensive Plan, Blueprint Boise at the Planning and Zonning Hearing. VPNA needs your support at the City meetings over the next months to come as well as at VPNA’s 30th street committee meetings where we decided on our comments as a neighborhood for the City record. This is a chance to get on the record and avoid pitfalls that major development could bring without input from the residence of VPNA. Please join the VPNA and make your neighborhood the best place to live in Boise.

Call to Action – Comments Needed

A complete draft of Blueprint Boise, Boise City’s updated Comprehensive Plan was released for public review in January 2010 on the project website.  Public input on the draft is being sought prior to Planning and Zoning Commission hearings planned for April 12, 2010. A survey is available to solicit public feedback on the draft plan.

The survey will be open through the middle of March and we would appreciate any feedback that you can provide.  Please take a few moments to complete the survey and provide your input on the draft plan.

Thank you for your continued participation in Blueprint Boise!

Ray Neef MD River Recreation Park

The first phase of construction began in February with a project to add fill material to the southwest corner of Quinn’s Pond.  The pond is currently being drained.

ACHD Latest Plan for 30th St Extension

On February24th, 2010 ACHD is updating their 5-year work plan and will likely adopt the 30th St. Extension plan. The newest draft of this plan is found on pg 1.

This plan calls for the start of construction in 2013.

Esther Simplot Park

Esther Simplot Park is an undeveloped 55-acre park that one day will feature natural areas, fishing ponds, a playground, picnic areas and shelters, pathways and sports fields.

The park, which encompasses 17 acres of ponds and 8.9 acres of riparian natural areas, is located between Main Street and Veterans Parkway on the north side of the Boise River. The north boundary of the site is adjacent to 31st and Pleasanton streets; the south side borders the Boise River Greenbelt.

A Master Plan is a concept drawing illustrating recreation facilities and landscape features planned for a park site. It does not necessarily represent what amenities are currently in a park.
